Strange Lights

Strange lights by Joe King and Rosie Pedlow is based on nature and the odd things that are seen at night. They did the film over several days using a static camera set up and leaving it to record through the day and night. During editing is when you can see the real effects of the documentary as i think the directors aim is to show the odd phenomenon that happens before our eyes. I really liked this film because i think it illustrates how beautiful nature is. I think it is successful in dealing with its subject matter of the strange lights and the way that they are presented because although it's sped up in editing, this process adds to the indifference and the change in the lights that perhaps wouldn't have been shown as well if it had been left at real time. One of the techniques that i think worked well in the production is the use of the static camera because they then didn't miss any of the action that made the documentary flow in a really nice way. I really like the different locations as they mixed the suburban and the urban area's.
